All-Quarterback Contest for MVP Again in 2026
In the modern NFL, quarterbacks are kings. Just one non-QB has earned MVP in the last 20 years, and the 2026 season is unlikely to buck the trend with the 22 shortest odds all belonging to passers.
There are nine signal-callers with odds shorter than 15/1 who head into the season with a good shot at earning the league’s MVP award.
Josh Allen (+550)
The one-time MVP is ready to make it two. With his pick, Joe Brady, installed at head coach and his best receiver since Stefon Diggs in place with the newly acquired DJ Moore, Josh Allen is positioned for yet another mind-boggling year of dual-threat dominance.
Lamar Jackson (+800)
A two-time MVP, few players can leave voters awed with regular-season dynamism like Lamar Jackson. If the Ravens, the AFC favourite, can live up to their expectations, it’s fair to expect Jackson to find himself in yet another MVP race.
Joe Burrow (+875)
It feels like a matter of when, not if, Joe Burrow gets an MVP nod. His last healthy season, in 2024, staked a claim for just that, but he was let down by a historically bad defense. With a defense that’s simply good enough, Burrow’s ability to put up huge numbers could lead to hardware.
Justin Herbert (+1000)
A trendy MVP pick for seasons now, Justin Herbert’s simply been yet to put it together for a full season, for reasons both his own and the team’s. In year two of the Jim Harbaugh era, expectations are high in L.A., and that could mean Herbert finally puts it together wire-to-wire.
Patrick Mahomes (+1000)
Fresh off a torn ACL, it’s easy to see a narrative in which Patrick Mahomes is vaulted into the MVP conversation. But, with a middling roster around him in a brutal division and conference, Mahomes could settle for a Comeback Player of the Year honour.
Drake Maye (+1000)
After coming a vote short last season, Drake Maye is in a similar place to his team. Can they do it again after riding a soft schedule? Now armed with AJ Brown on the outside, Maye can count on the best receiver he’s ever played with, if nothing else.
Dak Prescott (+1300)
Flanked by two electric wideouts in CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, Dak Prescott could ride a poor defense and a high-scoring offense into the MVP conversation if he’s able to position the Cowboys near the top of the NFC. In an offense with a sky-high ceiling, an MVP-calibre season could be looming in Dallas.
Matthew Stafford (+1400)
The reigning MVP is back at it for another season of putting up monster numbers in Sean McVay’s offense. With the Rams the favourite in the NFC, Stafford could go back-to-back if he keeps them there, and a cut above division rivals the Seahawks, throughout the season.
Caleb Williams (+1400)
What does Caleb Williams have in store for an encore, after a breakout sophomore season? With a genius in Ben Johnson in his ear and two young pass catchers ready to emerge in Colson Loveland and Luther Burden, Williams’ ascension should continue. If he can help Chicago overcome what looks like one of the league’s worst defenses, he could rise all the way to MVP contention.
