Backyard Brawl: Title Fights and Big Names Headline UFC Freedom 250

Across 32 years and more than 700 cards, the UFC has put on fights in 30 countries and crossed the United States several times over. This Sunday’s card, however, will take the promotion to its most unique location yet: the White House lawn.

The UFC’s long-hyped Freedom 250 event is slated, weather permitting, for Sunday with a star-studded card to help commemorate the occasion, with a title fight, an interim title fight, and some of the promotion’s biggest names on show.

The headliner will see the UFC lightweight championship contested between interim champion Justin Gaethje and Ilia Topuria, who won the belt in June 2025 but has yet to defend it due to personal reasons.

The undefeated former featherweight champ has proven to be a versatile, formidable fighter across nine fights in the UFC, with two decision victories, six knockouts, and a submission win. His relentless style sees him enter Sunday as a -600 favourite, and flat odds (-115) on a total rounds line of 1.5. Gaethje, who has a much more checkered UFC resume at 10-5, comes back as a +400 underdog.

In the co-main event, Alex Pereira will make his heavyweight debut and attempt to become the first fighter to win belts across three weight classes as he comes up against Ciryl Gane in the interim heavyweight championship.

Pereira last fought in October, when he won the light heavyweight title back from Magomed Ankalaev in incredible fashion, walking the Russian fighter down and finishing him inside of 90 seconds. Gane, meanwhile, is getting a second straight crack at the belt after his title fight in October was ruled a no contest after he poked Tom Aspinall in the eye and left him unable to continue.

Between Gane's size advantage and long run at heavyweight, and Pereira's step up in weight class, UFC oddsmakers are expecting a battle, with the pair a pick'em at -115 on the moneyline.

Helping to lead into the title bouts are fights featuring two of the UFC's biggest names and most exciting fighters. Sean O'Malley will look to continue his resurgence after a pair of humbling losses to Merab Dvalishvili as he faces Aiemann Zahabi as a -450 favourite, with Zahabi coming back at +320.

In the latest addition to the card, the always thrilling Derrick Lewis will take on undefeated Josh Hokit in a heavyweight brawl. Lewis, the UFC's record holder for knockout wins, enters as a +290 underdog and +390 to win by KO/TKO. Hokit, who has already fought twice in 2026, is a -400 favourite against one of the division's elder statesmen.

With seven fights across five weight classes on the card, the UFC is bringing its best to its most unique event yet.
