Last season, the Oklahoma City Thunder appeared on the verge of a dynastic run, only to be halted by the upstart San Antonio Spurs. On the eve of the 2026/27 NBA season, those rivals headline a pack of 10 teams with odds of 25/1 or shorter to win the NBA Finals.
Oklahoma City Thunder (+250)
Unless Chet Holmgren is irreversibly broken from his brutal, humiliating postseason, the Thunder should be back in the final four… at worst. With unrivaled depth and an all-time scorer in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the 2024/25 champions have staying power.
San Antonio Spurs (+270)
Ahead of schedule last year, the Spurs and Victor Wembanyama will continue to improve. A second-year leap from Dylan Harper and a potential MVP campaign from Wemby could see San Antonio back in the finals, with a different conclusion.
New York Knicks (+900)
The defending champions find themselves in a much more crowded Eastern Conference, and with contract uncertainty surrounding several key contributors. Yet, a testament to their well-rounded starting five and champion bona fides, they head into a title defense as conference co-favourites.
Philadelphia 76ers (+900)
Can the offseason champions convert it into a title? With Jaylen Brown and LeBron James added to a trio of Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and VJ Edgecombe, the potential of the new-look 76ers is salivating.
Boston Celtics (+1300)
Philadelphia’s gain was the C’s loss, as Brown was replaced with an aging Paul George. But, with Jayson Tatum back at full health and a bolstered frontcourt, Boston is sure to hang around the picture in the East yet again.
Cleveland Cavaliers (+2250)
The Cavs finally got over the second-round hump last year, only to be swept in lifeless fashion. The addition of Peyton Watson gives them a much-needed boost on the wing, but their postseason cred is uninspiring.
Denver Nuggets (+2500)
The Nuggets have again made a bet on Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon’s health. Yet, with the best player in the world still at the height of his powers in Niklola Jokic, it’s easy to see the Nuggets back in title contention if their bet pays off.
Detroit Pistons (+2500)
After a joyous, 60-win regular season vaulted them atop the East a year ago, the Pistons sat on their roster and dragged out contract negotiations with All-Star center Jalen Duren. It’s difficult to argue against the notion Detroit was overtaken by several conference foes this summer, barring another leap from maestro Cade Cunningham.
Minnesota Timberwolves (+2500)
The former jumbo-sized Wolves revamped their roster and will bet on the pairing of LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards. Whether Ball is able to stay healthy and meaningfully contribute to winning remains to be seen, but Edwards’ continued ascension toward the MVP conversation is a near certainty.
Toronto Raptors (+2500)
The Raptors and Kawhi Leonard are one-for-one on NBA titles together. Now, half a decade on from their triumph, Leonard’s back in Toronto. Instead of the veteran-laden roster he helped take to glory, however, it’s a youthful team with a pair of exciting, ascending players in Scottie Barnes and Collin Murray-Boyles. As is always the case with Leonard’s teams, it will hinge on his health.
