What Happened in NFL Week 13?
Cowboys 31 Chiefs 28 (Dallas +3.5)
Just a few short days after a proud stand against the Indianapolis Colts, the Kansas City Chiefs’ one-score game struggles reappeared, as their defense failed to get a stop and reward a masterful Patrick Mahomes performance. The Dallas Cowboys, meanwhile, beat both of last year’s Super Bowl participants in four days and are a curveball in the NFC playoff picture.
Bears 24 Eagles 15 (Chicago +7.5)
Much has been made of the quality, or lack thereof, around the 2025 Chicago Bears. Yet, they went into Philly and knocked off the dysfunctional Super Bowl champions – and bullied them on the ground. The Bears are now leading the NFC, while the Eagles’ division lead narrows, and the surrounding noise grows louder.
Panthers 31 Rams 28 (Carolina +10.5)
The unpredictable, up-and-down nature of Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers enjoyed a new high with a win over the then-NFC leading L.A. Rams. An uncharacteristically sloppy game from Matthew Stafford and the Rams opened the door for the Panthers, but in a league low on truly great teams, L.A. is still well positioned to head into January with the No. 1 seed.
NFL Week 13 Power Rankings 2025
1. L.A. Rams
The Rams have emerged as the only great team in a strange NFL season, and one slip up isn’t enough to change that notion.
2. Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks got a gift on Sunday, and not the kind Max Brosmer was handing out. L.A.’s loss keeps the NFC West, and the conference’s No. 1 seed, up for grabs. It’s easy to imagine the winner of a massive Week 16 meeting between the two teams marching through the NFC playoff field.
3. New England Patriots
Much like the team below, the New England Patriots have benefited from the AFC’s perennial contenders’ inconsistency in 2025. Unlike the team below, the Pats have made their march to double-digit wins look easy.
4. Denver Broncos
Another Denver Broncos win, another needlessly tight game. It’s easy to take issue with the way the Broncos are stacking wins, but when teams have to come to Denver in January and face that defense – the string of one-score wins won’t matter.
5. Green Bay Packers
A win on Thursday afternoon kept the Green Bay Packers within touching distance of the Bears in the NFC North, while all but dooming the Detroit Lions to a wild card spot – if they make the playoffs at all. With a patchwork passing game clicking nonetheless, and growing impact from Micah Parsons, the Pack are rounding into shape at the right time.
6. Buffalo Bills
With over 200 yards on the ground, the Buffalo Bills steam rolled the Pittsburgh Steelers to rebound from a Week 12 loss. The Bills’ season to this point would suggest a letdown looms, with Joe Burrow and the Bengals coming to Western New York next Sunday, but their highs remain contender-worthy high.
7. Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City finds itself firmly in gotta have it territory now, after its latest loss. Despite quality performances and equally strong underlying metrics, the Chiefs’ inability to win one-score games may doom them in 2025. Yet, such has been the mastery of Mahomes and this era of Chiefs football that they need to be in the ground to fully count them out.
8. San Francisco 49ers
The NFC West is, probably rightly, seen as a fight between the Rams and the Seahawks, but the San Francisco 49ers are right there at 9-4. While they remain in a perpetual war of attrition, with Brock Purdy back under center they appear to be rolling at their typical standard.
9. Philadelphia Eagles
It didn’t take long for boos to rain down on the Philadelphia Eagles during their Friday loss to the Bears, and they’ll likely continue as long as they stubbornly stand by embattled offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo. Two ugly losses in the span of five days has ramped up the noise in Philly, but it has bounced back from lows already in ‘25.
10. Detroit Lions
Like the Chiefs, Thursday’s loss has backed the Detroit Lions into a corner. Firmly third in their divisional race and on the outside looking into the NFC playoff picture, the Lions have stumbled into now-or-never territory.
