NFL Week 17 Recap & Game Highlights

The NFL Week 17 scores came loaded across three days, as one conference race was all but settled, while another will come down to the wire. The penultimate weekend of the regular season delivered drama around the NFL, and so there’s plenty to unpack in the Week 17 highlights – plus, BET99 NFL odds for Week 18.

BET99 has your NFL Week 17 recap, highlighted by the biggest Week 17 results and looking ahead to Week 18 betting predictions.

What Happened in NFL Week 17?

Texans 20 Chargers 16 (Houston +1)

A win at home would have kept the L.A. Chargers in contention for the AFC West and the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Instead, the Houston Texans’ defense put together another masterclass, as the likely AFC South runners-up look like a top-level threat ahead of January.

Eagles 13 Bills 12 (Philadelphia +3)

Relentless rain and two lethargic offenses sunk the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles into mud on Sunday, but high level drama still awaited at the end. Josh Allen’s inability to connect on a potential game-winning two-point conversion let the Eagles sneak out of Western New York as winners – but both teams have major questions to answer as playoffs loom.

49ers 42 Bears 38 (Chicago +4.5)

One of the best games of the regular season came down to the wire, but this time, it was a rare instance of Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears being unable to find a win. Instead, the San Francisco 49ers will welcome the Seattle Seahawks to the Bay next week with a chance at taking the NFC West, and the NFC’s No. 1 seed.

NFL Week 17 Power Rankings 2025

1. L.A. Rams

The L.A. Rams can no longer win the No. 1 seed in the NFC, and could finish as far back as third in the NFC West – but they’ll enter the playoffs as the team that impressed the most throughout the regular season.

2. Seattle Seahawks

It was ugly, but the Seattle Seahawks win in Week 17 means a win next week will secure the division and, crucially, home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs.

3. New England Patriots

Drake Maye and the New England Patriots are putting the finishing touches on a magnificent season, with a dismantling of the hated New York Jets a holiday gift to the New England faithful.

4. San Francisco 49ers

Able to hold off a patented late effort from the Bears, the Niners have set themselves up to play for the NFC’s No. 1 seed at home next week.

5. Jacksonville Jaguars

Despite a spirited effort from Phil Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts, the Jacksonville Jaguars kept rolling and can clinch the AFC South next week.

6. Buffalo Bills

It’s been two straight weeks of underwhelming Josh Allen performances, but in a wide open AFC, the heights he and the Bills can reach can’t be underestimated.

7. Denver Broncos

It was a Christmas night scare, as the Denver Broncos played down to a wildly depleted Kansas City Chiefs team. The AFC’s No. 1 seed is in the Broncos’ hands, yet it feels like they could lose to anyone come January.

8. Houston Texans

One of the league’s most suffocating defenses hounded Justin Herbert in a fantastic performance, but the Texans needed a phantom call to escape from L.A. as winners.

9. Chicago Bears

The Bears nearly did it again, coming up one play short in a prime-time thriller. Despite the loss, Chicago is the NFC North champion and well ahead of schedule.

10. Philadelphia Eagles

For the second time this season, the Eagles won despite quarterback Jalen Hurts not completing a pass in the second half. Philly is no closer to answering questions that have haunted it this year, but the playoffs wait for no one.

NFL Week 17 Scores & Standings

Here’s the current playoff picture in each conference, after the Chargers’ loss gave Denver control of its destiny in the AFC.

AFC: Broncos (13-3), Patriots (13-3), Jaguars (12-4), Steelers (9-7), Texans (11-5), Chargers (11-5), Bills (11-5).

NFC: Seahawks (13-3), Bears (11-5), Eagles (11-5), Panthers (8-8), 49ers (12-4), Rams (11-4), Packers (9-6-1).
