NFL Week 2 Recap & Game Highlights

A wild opening week of the regular season enjoyed an encore on Sunday, with one of the league’s best rivalries delivering fireworks while a Super Bowl rematch dropped a dynastic power to 0-2 across the NFL Week 2 scores.

Through Sunday’s action, four NFL odds underdogs won outright, with drama across the slate. BET99 has your NFL weekend recap, bookended by the three biggest games from Week 2 and looking ahead to Week 3.

NFL Week 2 Recap & Game Highlights

Lions 52 Bears 21 (Detroit -6.5)

In emphatic fashion, the Lions put to bed any notion their firepower left town with now-Bears head coach Ben Johnson. Detroit was its typical self, right down to ruthless fourth down conversions deep into the fourth quarter. Not for nothing, maligned former first overall pick Caleb Williams looked improved from a Week 1 showing that fell off a cliff after Johnson's script ran out.

Cowboys 40 Giants 37 (New York +5.5)

A total of 41 points scored in the fourth quarter led hated NFC East foes into overtime… where the pair promptly traded punts until transcendent talent Brandon Aubrey called game. An outrageous 15 minutes of football may not mean anything long term for either team involved, but it doesn’t take the magic away from a brief glimpse of vintage Russell Wilson

Eagles 20 Chiefs 17 (Philadelphia -1)

A grinding defensive battle between last year’s Super Bowl contestants trying to bring their respective offenses to life. Kansas City found itself on the wrong end of a controversial moment for the officials, while a would-be Travis Kelce touchdown crushed Arrowhead’s dreams of revenge.

NFL Week 2 Power Rankings 2025

1. Buffalo Bills

The Bills weren’t exactly tested in the Meadowlands – and that’s more than enough to stay at No. 1.

2. Baltimore Ravens

Baltimore took out Week 1 angst on a Cleveland team forced to play the fool on a day the Ravens – the former Browns – celebrated their 30th anniversary in Maryland.

3. Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles denied the Chiefs any taste of revenge, but an offense that remains worryingly limited is reason enough to keep the champs slotted in at No. 3.

4. Green Bay Packers

For the second week in a row, the Packers handled one of last season’s best in-conference foes with absolute ease.

5. Detroit Lions

Rumours of the Lions’ demise were exaggerated, with the team neutrals have grown to love showing up and hanging 52 on the Bears on Sunday.

6. Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs are 0-2 with a worryingly lack of answers offensively, but faith in Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid to problem solve remains.

7. L.A. Chargers

With the Broncos and Chiefs losing on Sunday ahead of a divisional matchup with the Raiders on Monday, Week 2 serves as a launching point for the Bolts’ bid to dislodge Kansas City’s AFC West supremacy.

8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

A road underdog in primetime in Week 2, the under-the-radar contender Bucs would want it no other way as they embody Baker’s relentless fight.

9. Denver Broncos

Week 2 saw a brutal, last-second loss and an uncharacteristically soft defensive performance, but the bones of these Broncos remain a legitimately threatening outfit.

10. Washington Commanders

The final score on Thursday Night Football flattered the Commanders, but losing in Green Bay on a short week is no damning indictment for last year’s NFC runners-up.

NFL Week 2 Standings & Records
