NFL Week 5 Recap & Game Highlights

NFL Week 5 kicked off with a divisional clash which required overtime came to a close on Monday night with a wild, back-and-forth affair settled by one of the more ridiculous winning touchdowns this season. All told, the NFL Week 5 scores saw some wild results as the BET99 NFL odds and NFL season head into Week 6.

With eight NFL odds underdogs winning outright in Week 5, plenty of games were flipped on their head in a league yet to fully shake out. BET99 has your NFL weekend recap, highlighted by the biggest games from Week 5 and looking ahead to Week 6.

NFL Week 5 Recap & Game Highlights

Broncos 21 Eagles 17 (Denver +4)

The Philadelphia Eagles dropped their first game of the season on Sunday, and it was coming after weeks of disjointed play. The defending Super Bowl champions remain a team without identity, as the running game that powered them a year ago has yet to get going. The officiating rightly got slated in the wake of Philly’s loss, but there’s bigger issues around Nick Sirianni’s team – mainly, the Eagles’ offense.

Buccaneers 38 Seahawks 35 (Tampa Bay +3.5)

With two of the NFC’s upstart teams meeting on Sunday in Seattle, it felt like we’d gain clarity on both teams. And we did. What got clarified was that both teams are for real, as the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers traded punches in an outrageous game. The Bucs just continue to find wins in the dying moments, but both of these teams are capable of extended runs in January.

Jaguars 31 Chiefs 28 (Jacksonville +3.5)

On the back of 24 second-half points, one of the best throws of the season, and maybe the most ridiculous touchdown so far this year, the Jacksonville Jaguars continued their great start to the season with an upset win over the Kansas City Chiefs. While Kansas City’s resurgence appears to be well and truly on, Jacksonville’s rise on the back of an opportunistic defense is seemingly just as real.

NFL Week 5 Power Rankings 2025

1. Detroit Lions

Through five weeks, there might not be any great teams in the NFL. If there is one, they’re located in Michigan, where the Detroit Lions have found their groove with four straight wins.

2. Buffalo Bills

A week after playing down to the Saints, the Buffalo Bills were handed their first loss by an outstanding performance from Drake Maye and an upstart New England Patriots team.

3. Kansas City Chiefs

Despite the wild loss in primetime, the Chiefs have effectively shed their early season offensive woes. With Rashee Rice’s return looming, Kansas City look primed to go toe-to-toe with the Bills for the AFC’s top spot.

4. L.A. Rams

The L.A. Rams came up short in their overtime effort against the 49ers on Thursday night, but don’t put too much weight into that loss – that specific matchup tends to get wonky. Los Angeles is back to being a league heavyweight.

5. Philadelphia Eagles

Deep in an identity crisis, the Eagles can keep getting by with a punishing play style and outrageous depth. But, serious questions need to be answered before they can be taken seriously as a top-tier contender.

6. Indianapolis Colts

A 40-6 win over the Raiders on Sunday is the latest piece of evidence these Indianapolis Colts are legitimately good. What a world.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Between the benefit of a terrible division and the never-say-die attitude of Baker Mayfield, it’s easy to see the Bucs stacking wins over the remainder of the regular season. Come playoff time? You don’t want to be across from Mayfield and breakout star Emeka Egbuka.

8. Seattle Seahawks

They were on the losing end of Sunday’s thriller, but the way Seattle’s offense went toe-to-toe with the Bucs is hugely encouraging. The NFC is rich with good teams, and the Seahawks are right in the mix.

9. Green Bay Packers

Early bye weeks are never ideal, but after a loss to the Browns and a tie in Dallas, the Green Bay Packers may have benefited from a week off. After starting the year looking like potential NFC kings, the Packers need to come back ready to re-establish themselves as a threat in an increasingly competitive conference.

10. Denver Broncos

It’s still yet to all click for Sean Payton’s team, but that’s partially why the Broncos find themselves in the top 10. You get the sense this is a team that’s going to improve as the season progresses – and the ceiling of a Payton-coached team with an efficient offense and high-calibre defense is high.

NFL Week 5 Scores & Standings

After Week 5 wrapped up, there are no more undefeated teams left standing – and sadly, just a single team still seeking their first win.

4-1 teams: Bills, Eagles, Colts, Jaguars, Lions, Buccaneers, 49ers.

Winless teams: Jets.
